...ok so maybe just a few. Throughout the engagement session, Jenna was throwing out lines from The Notebook. I guess not only this movie, some Dirty Dancing lines as well, but we just couldn't quite get the whole affect of Jake lifting her up out of the water. I guess it was not all Jake's fault, "the river" only went knee high. All in all, I think we found a cover winner with this first one below...starring Jake and Jenna. I had a blast with you both and I am looking forward to your wedding day in September!

Let's go wormin'...

...that is what little Noah said to me shortly after I walked in the door. I was up for anything and since little Neve was eating, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go "wormin" with Noah. Much to my surprise, Noah caught a worm in less than 60 seconds. I guess you could say he does this a lot. He was very excited to catch his worm but then he swiftly put it in his little bug cage. Then he ran inside to tell dad he has his worm and he is ready to go fishin'. This little guy is all boy with tons of personality. I'll go "wormin" with him any day. So cute. Here are a few of little Noah and his adorable baby sister. Gotta love the cute little bow on Neve too...huh?

Spring Fever!

What can I say about Alexis? I think her mom hit it on the head when she described her simply as "A piece of work"! After spending the morning with Alexis and her mom I was definitely suffering from some serious spring fever! I think I caught it from Lexi...she was a little grumpy and definitely had the 4 year old 'tude on display. I completely understood though because we had just spent the morning at a rather disappointing state basketball game and I was a little bummed as well. When I suggested we enjoy the nice Spring weather by going to the park for pictures there was no stopping her. You could see the wheels turning in her head and I knew she was already planning her outfit. Like me, she's all about the clothes! As soon as we got out of the car she bolted to her suitcase. Clothes were flying everywhere! Leave it to Lexi....the girl's got style. She's a natural. Totally in her element in front of the camera, she's all about the attitude and the posing.Did I mention that this little sassy girl is my little cousin? Love her!

So, I have had lots requests to do some mini- sessions and this "urban look" will be perfect! This will be a great cure for YOUR Spring Fever. Did I mention, I also purchased a "new" vintage chair that will make its debut at these sessions? I am really excited about it!

Lexi chose great eclectic pieces that worked well for our urban session. Be bright, bold and crazy.. Anything goes...well almost anything.

Baby Beckett!

I can still hear him giggling! The most adorable giggle I have ever heard. Beckett is one happy baby but he was worn out after showing me all of his latest tricks.....that giggle, rolling over and he couldn't get enough of his toes. He can't quite sit up on his own yet but even with some help, he could not stop going for his toes. I had a few tricks up my sleeve as well and we got some amazing images!

Emily + Russ= Crazy* Fun* Love

Talk about fun...this wedding was a blast! Russ gave all of the guys in the wedding brown Chuck's to match their brown pinstripe suits, which is something he has been talking about since "the summer of Russ '03". Emily was simply stunning in her wedding gown and sooo photogenic that I didn't want to stop taking pictures of her. Luckily, after the wedding, the bus got overheated in their small town of Cedar Bluffs so I had some extra time to get some fun shots of the wedding party. :) Soon after, we were off to watch the end of the Husker game at their favorite hangout Whis's End Zone Lounge. This popular couple had around 600 close friends and family ready to celebrate with them at the reception. Thanks Russ and Emily for allowing me to capture your wedding day. Congratulations!

Lil' Miss Photogenic-Alexis

Congratulations Alexis!

This sweet face was entered in the annual Lil' Miss Photogenic competition at the Professional Photographers of Nebraska conference in Grand Island last weekend. A panel of judges voted and Alexis won in her category of 12 years and younger, in which she and I competed against many other talented photographers and adorable faces.

In another competition, People's Choice, photographers throughout Nebraska voted for their choice out of ALL (nearly 200) the photos entered in the competion. Alexis was the "People's Choice". But really, who couldn't resist that adorable face? She is a doll!

Alexis is 4 years old. She loves playing with her kitten "Mittens" and her big sister Paige. When she grows up she would like to be The Next Top Model or build a career from her natural talent of story telling. Here are a few more images from that same session with Alexis.

Senior Fun!

Last week Cerizo called me feeling a bit under the weather. He asked if I would want to assist him with a Senior. I was glad to help, it's always great to help a fellow photographer out, even if it means holding the grey card and reflector. :) But, just for fun, he did let me take a few shots of my own. Carson is a really sweet girl! She has a natural eye for art which is why she will be studying art in college next year!

I'm a bit behind on blogging these days, but I have to tell you about the fun trip I made to Des Moines a couple weeks ago. At the end of July, I met Lori Nordstrom in Atlanta at a PPA conference. She has quickly become a great mentor for me, as a photographer as well as learning the business aspect of things. She held a workshop in her brand NEW studio located on the picturesque town square of Winterset, Iowa where you will also see The Bridges of Madison County. It is a truly beautiful little town and just wait until you see this studio! It was under construction while we were there, but I promise I will post pictures after her grand opening! Some photographers flew in from Canada and there was even one from New York. We learned about natural lighting, posing, and managing this crazy business. Her good friend and Photographer Michael Cerizo was there as well to do a little teaching. It was so great to learn and grow with other photographers! We also had some great late nights with her son, Josh, and his friends. They took song requests, and I must say, they are truly talented...both as musicians and models!

When Chris called me to talk about photographing their August 23rd wedding, I hesitated for a second. Because that day marked the 5 year anniversary for my husband Jim and I. But, I went on to talk with Chris a little more about their wedding. When he said the wedding would be held at Grace Chapel , I knew I couldn't say no. Grace Chapel happened to be our home church, when we lived in Lincoln, and we do miss it so! Not only that, but 5 years ago on that date we were married at Zion (Grace Chapel's sister church) by one of the best people we know-- our Pastor Mike Hsu!

Their story:

Chris proposed to Brittany with a modern ring setting bearing his mother's original diamond. Keeping with tradition, Brittany wore her mother's wedding dress and veil. Grey tuxes were worn by Chris and his groomsmen-- just like his dad did on their wedding day.
It was such a fun day! Chris and Brittany are truly amazing people with big hearts. I was honored to be a part of their wedding day. Here are a few sneak peeks for you!

My friend and fellow photographer Sarah Pfeiffer was with me to photograph their wedding. Before the ceremony, we went to Nebraska Wesleyan University (Kristen's alma mater) for some fun images. I must say that these two are going to have a hard time choosing their images, but here are just a few that will give you a glimpse of their story. We had so much fun capturing their day--from the hair salon and getting ready, to the celebration and dancing!

Here is Kristen at The Mill with her cousin, Colleen, while she takes her first peek at their engagement guest book. This is the place Kristen would always meet her best friend to talk and dream about the man she would someday marry.

...Luke popped the question to Jackie... and she said YES! These two are some of our closest friends who have been dating for over three years and always getting the question:"so when are you two getting engaged?" (I swear I wasn't one of those people). So, when they stopped by today to surprise me with the news, I just had to get pictures of them on their engagement day! Can't you just feel the love in this picture?

Oh, and I couldn't forget to show you her new best friend! Congratulations! I'm so excited for your upcoming wedding!

Haydn looooves country music! In fact, his mom records the country music countdown videos for him and he loves to play them...over and over again. Therefore, it was only natural for him to bring his guitar and perform his favorite new song by Sugarland for me. It was pretty funny because there were some people in the park that stopped to listen and clap for him. I guess you could say he might be on his way to becoming a country super star!

She has finally arrived and what a beautiful baby girl! I was so happy to meet her and take her one week old pictures. She was fast asleep when I arrived and it looked as if nothing could wake her...until she saw the first flash of lights. She was wide awake for the rest of our session until the end when she pretended to be asleep for just a moment...when I got my favorite image.

Blayklee has been a part of the Little Miracles Club so I have been able to watch her grow up this year! It is always very exciting for me to capture the changes that infants go through. It goes by so fast and especially in the first year so like the song says: "Don't Blink." Just make sure you are capturing those memories so you will always have a way to remember them. I designed this announcement for her first birthday party. She loved the cake but was really sad when it was all gone!

Visiting Grandma & Papa

These two cuties traveled from Illinois to visit Papa and Grandma in Lincoln for the weekend. Aidan was one of the first little boys I photographed, but it was my first time meeting his little sister Annemarie. Aidan loves to listen to Papa's make believe stories and go hunting for frogs. The way to Annemarie's heart is through a little chocolate m&m. Whatever works right?!

You might recognize this little boy....Andrew! He is on the splash page of my website all curled up at 1 week old. A year goes by so fast and I was happy to capture all of the memories. We have captured all of his little moments from newborn to 3, 6, and 9 months and now 1 year old. This was Andrew's first session outdoors and he was so happy just being in the moment and exploring! I think his favorite part was the cupcake he ate to celebrate his birthday! Happy Birthday to you...Andrew!

When I pulled up to the house for this session, I was greeted by the oldest, Kolin, and nine lab pups. They were adorable! I would have taken one home if I didn't have two boxer pups at home already. It was the perfect spring morning and I had a great time on my adventure with these two boys. Kolin was determined to catch a mountain lion and Tyce didn't want me to catch him smiling...but we got a few out of him later on. Here are a few of my favorites.

Meet Avril. I shot this beautiful baby last week. I was so excited for this session because I was lucky enough to shoot her parents' wedding last summer. Nick and Cassondra were blessed with a near honeymoon baby. When I spoke with Cassondra about her wedding pictures imagine my surprise when she told me she was expecting! Avril did an amazing job considering she had just made the long trip from Michigan. Lots of smiles for a 6 week old. Congratulations Nick and Cassondra!
